Kirsty Jane Gallacher is one of the most significant representatives of Edinburgh bohemia. This model and TV presenter, distinguished by her uniqueness and genuine charm, has become a real celebrity.

Early years

Kirsty was born in Edinburgh on January 20, 1976. Her father is legendary golfer and Ryder Cup captain Bernard Gallagher.

Father’s sports career had a great influence on family life. Thus, when Bernard was offered to play as part of Wentworth Golf Club, they had to move to Virginia Water. At that time, Kirsty was just one and a half years old.

When the time came to choose a study place for the girl, the family settled on Coworth Flexlands School. However, since the programme of this institution provided education to children up to the age of 11, young Kirsty entered St George’s School, having reached that age.

Beginning of the career

Time passed and when the school years were behind, the girl had to decide on her career. However, everything was decided for Kirsty by a happy accident.

At the dinner, dedicated to The Ryder Cup, she met Mark Sharman. The latter then held the position of deputy head of sport at Sky.

Sky is a well-known British broadcasting and telecommunications company. It provides television and Internet services, as well as provides users with mobile communications. Sharman offered her a job in the company. Thus, in 1996, Kirsty became a production assistant. The girl liked this work and very soon she was to be promoted to the post of editorial assistant on Sky Sports.

New level

Kirsty achieved great success and demonstrated excellent results. So, in 1998, she reached a new level of her career.

The girl began to appear as a presenter on the Sky Sports News TV channel.

Later, viewers could see her on other sports shows, such as 90 Minutes, Soccer Extra and Soccer AM.

Another genre

Sometimes, we can hear about some people that the camera “loves” them. Kirsty is such a person. Her work on TV turned out to be so successful that soon she went beyond the sports genre.

So, in 2000, Gallacher became the host of Kirsty’s Home Videos. Its concept was that viewers sent interesting home videos to be broadcast.

In 2002, Kirsty became the host of the RI:SE morning show, which started the day of many people

Numerous shows

After that, there was a real breakthrough in Kirsty’s TV career. She appeared in many projects as a permanent presenter or a guest star.

Some of them were Simply the Best, They Think It’s All Over, A Question of Sport, Only Fools on Horses, etc.

Return

TV presenters often return to the channels or projects from which they started their activities. Kirsty was no exception either. In 2011, she returned to Sky Sports as a presenter on Sky Sports News.

In August 2015, it became known that the beloved TV presenter would take part in the legendary show Strictly Come Dancing. Her partner was professional dancer Brendan Cole. They pleased the audience with their bright performances until the 6th week of the project.

Forced break

In 2018, Kirsty left Sky Sports again. However, in a few years, she appeared on TV screens again.

In March 2021, she joined the team of the GB News channel to host the morning show. However, this cooperation lasted only nine months. In December 2021, Gallacher announced that she was leaving the channel due to the discovery of a benign tumour of her internal auditory canal.

The story of Kirsty Gallacher is an example of how one lucky chance can change a life forever. After all, who knows how her fate would have turned out if one day she hadn’t met Mark Sharman, who offered her a job.

Probably, our whole life consists of such non-random coincidences. It’s important not to miss that only chance leading to coveted success.
